The following students were elected to various posts in the academic year 2025 – 2026.

Dayuan Tan, Chair, 2025 – 2026

Dayuan Tan is a current Computer Science PhD candidate at CSEE, UMBC.

His research focus on using machine learning, reinforcement learning, blockchain technologies to solve problems in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). He works with Dr. Mohamed Younis. 

Dayuan has multiple years of experience serving NGOs, including Enactus, FedMotiv, CSSA. He feels honored and excited to serve as the president for 2022-2024.

James Baker, Vice-Chair, 2025 – 2026

James Baker is a graduate student at UMBC in Computer Science, who’s interests lie in graphics and vision. Previously, he completed his bachelors at Rutgers University and worked at Netflix, Amazon and a startup.


Weikai Tan, Vice-Chair, 2025 – 2026

I am a current PhD student under SONG Lab. My research focuses on neuro-symbolic AI with particular emphasis on Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) as a key branch of this field. My work addresses the critical challenge of creating accurate digital twins and real-world representations for complex physical systems, which is essential for advancing scientific discovery and engineering applications.


Shuai Xu, Vice-Chair, 2025 – 2026

Shuai is a Computer Science PhD student in Signal Processing and Smart Systems (SPSS) Lab with Prof. Seung-Jun Kim. His research focus on Machine Learning.


Rui Jin, Vice-Chair, 2025 – 2026


Rui Jin is a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a visiting fellow affiliated with the National Institutes of Health. His research focuses on statistical signal processing and the development of machine learning and deep learning algorithms, with applications in brain imaging, genomics, metabolomics, and wireless communications.
